Ordering your repeat prescriptions is changing!
What is changing?
From 1st October 2021, your community pharmacy will no longer be able to order your repeat medication for you. You will be expected to order your repeat medication directly with the practice in one of the following ways:
- Online via Patient Access
- Via an app, i.e. MyGP, NHS App
- Community Pharmacy App
- Tick off what you need on the repeat order slip and drop the request in the letterbox outside the surgery
- Send via post
If you can’t order by these means and don’t have a family member, friend or carer able to order for you, please contact us to discuss.
Please note we do not accept repeat medication requests over the phone. We need to keep our lines free for patients requiring appointments.
What is NOT changing?
When you order your repeat prescription directly through the practice, your pharmacy will continue to collect or receive your prescription as before. Pharmacies may also continue to deliver your prescription if they currently offer this service.
If you receive a pill tray/dossette box from your Community Pharmacy, this change does not affect you and your Pharmacy will continue to order on your behalf.
Why is this happening?
Being in charge of ordering your own repeat prescriptions ensures you get the medicine you need at the time you need it. This can help prevent the build-up of unused or old medicines at home which improves safety, reduces medicines waste and saves valuable NHS resources.
There is nothing to worry about- you will continue to receive the repeat medications that you take.
